Fillers & Injectables Q & A

What is Botox?

Botox is a prescription medication that Dr. Singh injects into your muscles. The goal of Botox is to smooth fine lines, crow’s feet, and wrinkles. Botox originates from the botulinum toxin protein, but it has been highly purified for skin-care purposes.

How does Botox help with wrinkles?

When you smile, laugh, or frown, your muscles contract and etch lines on your face over time. Botox works by restricting muscle movement and temporarily paralyzing the muscles in your face.

How long does it take until I see results from Botox treatments?

The results of Botox are not immediate, but the treatment does work very quickly. After your injections, your wrinkles will fade away in one or two days.

How long does Botox last?

Botox isn’t permanent, but you’ll have good results for up to a year. It’s safe to repeat Botox when your wrinkles begin to reemerge.

What are dermal fillers?

As you age, lines and wrinkles build up on your face from years of smiling, frowning, or pressing your face into your pillow while you sleep. You naturally lose collagen and elastin over time, too.

Dermal fillers are made with hyaluronic acid and rejuvenate your face by adding volume and stimulating collagen growth. The most common target areas for dermal fillers are your cheeks, nose, mouth, and lips. Once Dr. Singh injects the fillers, you’ll see instant results.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a popular dermal filler made out of hyaluronic acid, a hydrating substance that naturally occurs in your skin. Dr. Singh and his team of registered nurses use Juvederm to bolster sagging skin by adding volume to your face.

Juvederm is a nonsurgical procedure, but does require a series of microscopic injections with a tiny needle. Dr. Singh performs the procedure in about 15 minutes and you can return to school or work immediately. You’ll immediately notice your wrinkles dissolving. The results last about a year.
